Black Watch Tux.
We created this tux for a matric ball student in Polokwane. He emphasized the idea of standing out at the event. Traditionally bright colours would’ve been the obvious choice, possibly something red or an electric blue because of his age. However after hours of brainstorming and going through pictures and fabrics we finally found what we were looking for.
The black watch tux made from a Scottish tartan. What really made the tux stand out was that the whole 3-Piece was made from the Black Watch. In most cases a Black Watch tartan is worn as a dinner jacket with a black trouser. Another reason the tux looked so great was because the weight of the fabric. Tartan is generally heavier than regular light weight Italian and English wools which we are the most common options. The thing about a heavier weight is that it falls and drapes a whole lot better than a lighter weight especially on the trouser. Inspired by Italian Atelier Bottega Dalmut we also recommended the customer wear a shirt with a covered placket. The reason for doing this was to enhance the strength of the Black Watch.
The customer finished off the tux with a vintage pocket watch and some beautiful black and gold slippers.
